Description
Olympia is the birthplace of the Olympic Games, as well as Zeus’ sacred place. Olympia is one of the most important sanctuaries of ancient Greece. It was never just the games, but also the honour, the peace, the struggle and the body – all in one. During this daylong excursion while visiting the archaeological site and museum we feel like taking part in the history of Greece and the birth of the art. The pedimental sculptures from the Temple of Zeus, the statue of Nike by Paeonius and Hermes of Praxiteles are just a few masterpieces of ancient Greek artwork that we can admire. There will also be free time for a lunch break and time or for shopping in the city centre.
